The Chariots of the Gods Myth, Mystery or Miracle? by Patricia & Stanley Walsh
In the last century, humanity has taken an astronomical leap into the
frontiers of the universe, from our faltering steps to take flight like the
birds of the air to mighty engines propelling us to our moon, and soon
beyond.
Humanity has been challenged by both the expanding horizon of our reality
and the seeming diminishing importance of our species in light of the larger
perspective. Technological advances, such as automation, can do it faster
and better than the worker. The age of computerization has called humanity
to task with the threat of a faster, more efficient "mind". It is a world in
which as our horizons expand into the universe our awareness become
encapsulated in the TV or the internet.
The challenge is where do we fit in this maze of expanding realities and
increasing awareness. Philosophically we have heard and possibly even
recognized that all is one, yet as we race toward that awareness it seems to
become burdensome and overwhelming‹just too much information, just too much
awareness of what is happening in the far side of the world.
Now as we take our first few feeble steps into our neighborhood of the
universe, we again face the new challenges which come from a new frontier.
Innately we wonder, as the engines rumble and the shuttle streaks upward, if
truly we are reaching for the hand of God. The heavens have always
represented God's dwelling place.
Who or what will we find when we reach toward the stars? Friend or foe?
Mortals or Gods? We must wonder where we are going and what discoveries
await us that will shatter the perceptions of ourselves, our world and even
our God. As we take our first tentative steps toward the stars are we
entering the threshold of the Gods?
The heavens throughout history has often been the tablet on which divinity
has written with astronomical signs such as comets, chariots of fire,
eclipses. Are we now writing upon that same tablet as we venture into the
heavens? The heavens hold the very clockworks of the universe as our world
obediently turns as one small cog in its ongoing march through eternity.
Astrologically the heavens predict the seasons of one's life and the rise
and fall of nations. The constellations reminded us of those who looked down
upon us.
We, indeed, are writing on this tablet as our man-made satellites streak
across the sky and soon the space station will be the third brightest light
in the heavens. Are we alone in the universe or are we joining our yet
unknown brothers and sisters in the pursuit of the expansion of awareness?
In this exploration will we be the guests at another's table, or is it our
table to which we will be inviting guests?
Myth would indicate that someone is knocking on our door rather than we on
theirs. Innumerable recorded events of the chariots of the gods, strange
marking like landing sites engraved on mountain plains, images created in
the fields. It is undeniable that something is happening, but what is
happening is the question. Who is knocking and why are they at our door?
It may not be what we would presume that more intelligent life has arrived
at our doorstep before we ventured our to theirs. Most would agree that we
are not alone in the universe, yet an important perception may be overlooked
just as the picture on the wall is limited compared to third-dimensional
reality.
Is it possible as we journey into the domain of the gods that our
third-dimensional leap is actually a fourth-dimensional expansion? We
believe that the kingdom is within, that we cannot go within ourselves
without experiencing the creative force of All That Is‹no matter what we
call it. Could it be that the opposite is true, that as we reach outward
into our reality, the stars, in like measure we will find that same creative
force looking back at us?
As we prepare to venture in the next decade to the planets, it would serve
us well to remember there is more to discover than just uncharted
territories and even new life forms and ultimately other intelligent
life‹that there is one mind, one consciousness that awaits us in this
exploration, that this is not just a physical, third-dimensional journey but
a spiritual journey of awareness and awakening. That like the picture upon
the wall, we are about to leap into a fourth-dimensional awareness heralded
by our exploration of space. The greatest discoveries will not be those seen
by the physical eye but by the spiritual awareness as we break the bonds of
our earthly nest and soar upward to take our place amongst the gods.
As we expand in our awareness, the holographic nature of the universe will
be revealed and the very heavens will become alive with the consciousness of
All That Is. The darkened night sky will be illuminated with the light of
awareness and the great ships of collective consciousness exploring the
dimensions will emanate their song, the "Ohm", recalling the oneness of All
That Is. We cannot expand in our physical knowledge of our reality without
also in like measure expanding in our spiritual conception of All That Is.
Who's knocking at the door? Not a neighbor on the next block in the
universe, but ourselves reminding us of who we are, how it came to be, and
where our destiny lies.
